Our third-grade students are lucky to have Mrs. Halversen or Ms. Menlove as their teachers! These two are exceptional at teaching students about multiplication, division, Earth and Space, rights and responsibilities as community members, and much, much, more! We appreciate them and all that they do!
Mrs. Jeni Halversen loves helping students find joy in learning new things and supporting them in navigating challenges. She has been a teacher for 14 years, with the last 4 at Taylor Elementary with fantastic teachers and staff. Like the words of Buddy the Elf, Mrs. Halversen says, “Teaching is my favorite!”
Ms. Shauntelle Menlove loves teaching some of the best kids at Taylor Elementary School in the best grade in the best community! She has worked here for 5 years and has loved every moment. When she was in third grade, she wanted to be a paleontologist.

Winter Break is approaching! The end of 2nd term is on Friday, December 20. All schools in the district will be on an early out dismissal schedule (1:30 pm for Taylor Elementary School). All schools and district offices will be closed during the break. School will resume for students on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. We wish you all a fun and safe holiday season!

Taylor Elementary School will have a fun-filled Spirit Week next week (December 16-20). If your student would like to join along with the fun, we have a theme for each day.
Monday - Christmas sweaters (ugly or cute)
Tuesday - Christmas socks
Wednesday - Comfy clothes
Thursday - Christmas hat
Friday - Christmas or school colors

Thank you to all who have ever donated money to Taylor Elementary School! We appreciate those donations which allow us to support our students and families. If you find that you are able to donate (whether it is now, in the holiday spirit, or any other time throughout the year) we heartily welcome your donations.
The donation site is available on the Taylor Elementary Website > Menu > Parent Resources > Donations. We have two donation bins set up. One is for General School Donations which is used at the discretion of the principal, office manager, and JSSC to support teachers and students in their classrooms. The other fund is Donations for Christmas, which is used at the discretion of the principal and our family advocate who help identify students and families in need with coats, shoes, food, and other household needs.
We appreciate these donations! We also understand that not all are able to donate money, and we appreciate the other ways in which you support our school. THANK YOU!

We had fun walking in our Winter Wonderland! Thank you to all those who came to view the artwork and lights displayed in the classroom windows. Santa Claus, his local helper elves, hot cocoa, artwork, and good company made the evening enjoyable for all!

The fourth-grade teachers at Taylor Elementary School are amazing! These two work well together to create a fun learning environment for fourth grade students. From teaching about the geography and history of the state of Utah to complex computations with fractions, these teachers do it all. We are grateful for all that Ms. Loosle and Mrs. Quist do to help our students be successful in school and in life.
Ms. Kim Loosle has taught at Taylor for the last 10 years, and this is her fourth-year teaching fourth grade. She loves and adores the many awesome people that are a part of the Taylor community. A fun fact about Ms. Loosle is that she loves flamingos. She wishes that she loved the hotter climates so that she could hang out with flamingos all day and eat pineapple.
Mrs. Laura Quist has been at Taylor Elementary for her entire teaching career. This is her third-year teaching fourth grade but has also taught third and fifth grades. She loves Taylor Elementary and believes that we have the best staff and students (we wholeheartedly agree). You may see her adding a splash of lime to her food because she says it is one of the best condiments out there.

One of our sixth graders was honored at "Soup with the Supe" with our principal, Dr. Denhalter, and the district superintendent, Dr. Linford.
One student from each school is nominated each year. Our honoree is exemplary and has had an impact in Taylor Elementary School's culture of belonging and inclusion. Congratulations to our honoree!

The kindergarteners at Taylor Elementary are so lucky to have such amazing teachers working with them. We have an awesome kindergarten team.
Chelsey Lang loves teaching kindergarten! When she is not teaching, she enjoys traveling, camping, and spending quality time with her sons.
Katie Davis absolutely loves the students, staff, and the feeling of community at Taylor Elementary! This is Mrs. Davis’s second year as a kindergarten teacher, but her fifth year working at Taylor. She is a Centerville native and attended Taylor Elementary as a student. A fun fact about Mrs. Davis is that she loves to bake, and she had her own bakery in Wyoming.
Ann Barker is the aide in Mrs. Lang’s class. We don’t know what we would do without Mrs. Barker. She has worked at Taylor for many years, and she has done so much to help students progress.
Krista Johnson is the aide in Mrs. Davis’s class. She is happy to provide support to the kindergarten students in the morning and then she switches to music mode as our school music teacher. She loves being at Taylor Elementary! Mrs. Johnson is an avid reader and has read over 80 books this calendar year (and is still counting), one of her favorites is Alice in Wonderland.
We are grateful for the kindergarten team and all that they do to help our students learn fundamental skills in early childhood.

Next week (Monday, December 9) is our Art Winter Wonderland from 5:00-6:30 pm. Come bundled up to stay warm while you walk the outside of the school to see the decorated classroom windows. There will be hot cocoa available in the courtyard behind the school and you can say hello to a North Pole visitor in the school foyer. We suggest that you bring flashlights so you can see the displayed artwork a little better.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We hope that you have a safe and enjoyable time. We will see students again on Monday, December 2.

Thank you for all of the donations during the student council food drive! The student council members, their teachers, and school administration were able to deliver almost 1,000 pounds of food to the Bountiful Food Pantry! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Picture Retake Day will be on Tuesday, December 3 from 12:00-1:00 pm. This is for all those that missed the original picture day in October or wish to retake. Send your students to school with a smile! A flyer with photo package information from Bell photography was sent home with students on Friday. Order your students photos online at bellphoto.com or bring cash or check on picture day (make check payable to: Bell Photographers).

Sixth grade students recently had a local author visit them and inspire them with the love of reading and writing. Lance Conrad shared some of his experiences in building stories. He started off as an avid reader and once read a book with a disappointing ending, so he thought, "I can do better than that." He then began his journey as a writer. Lance is the author of several young adult fantasy books.

Both casts of The Little Mermaid were amazing! Hopefully you had the opportunity to see them in action this last weekend. Here are a few pictures of the Gadgets cast. Again, we are so grateful for the parent volunteers and the staff at Spotlight Performing Arts Center for helping these students with costumes, make up, choreography, singing, musical direction, stage directions, learning lines, confidence, and much, much more! #theatrematters #davisschooldistrict @spotlight_performingarts

Here is a sneak peek under the sea of the Gizmos cast performing The Little Mermaid. Showtimes are tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday (November 21-23). If you don't have tickets yet, go to Spotlight Performing Arts Center's website. Both casts have been working diligently, so swim on over and be a part of their world! Thank you to all the parent volunteers and the Spotlight crew for helping our students shine! https://www.onthestage.tickets/show/spotlight-performing-arts-center/671bd69779b396142111430f

Look at some of these amazing portraits and drawings that students did as part of the PTA Reflections art contest: Accepting Imperfection. We love to see students' creativity!

Thanksgiving Break is around the corner! There is no school on Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29. Enjoy the extra time with family and loved ones. We are grateful for each student at Taylor Elementary School and their families!
