Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and we certainly appreciate everything that the Centerville Police Department does to keep our students and community safe. We especially appreciate our School Resource Officer (SRO), Officer Kasey Scott!
Officer Scott is awesome! The students at Taylor Elementary love to see him and ask him all sorts of questions. We love to have him be a positive role model and trusted adult for our students. This is Officer Scott’s third year as an SRO at all the schools in Centerville City. He has been an officer and detective with Centerville Police Department for 7 years and says that the role of an SRO is the most rewarding position in the police force.
He gets to work closely with the 6th grade students in the DARE program to teach about decision making and resistance strategies. He helps all students learn more about how to be a productive member of the community, discourages bullying, provides support for what to do in various emergency situations, intervenes when there are safety concerns, and shares community resources with students and families.
Officer Scott is a Davis County native, graduated from the Weber State University Police Academy, and still resides in Davis County with his family. He said that he has always had an interest in police work and wanted to stand up for what is right and help people, so he became a police officer about 10 years ago.
We are grateful for Officer Scott and the Centerville Police Department!

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones! We are excited to see students again on Tuesday, January 7 for the beginning of third term.

We had some special visitors from the North Pole at Taylor Elementary School! Buddy the Elf helped Santa and Mrs. Claus go to each classroom to deliver a treat and say hello! A key reminder from Santa was for the fabulous students of Taylor to continue to be on the nice list.

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear." -Buddy the Elf
Our Christmas sing-along assembly this morning was full of cheer and laughter! Each grade level sang a carol to the school. We even had a mischievous Grinch, a smiling Elf, and joyful Mr. and Mrs. Claus!

Happy Holidays everyone! Please have a safe and enjoyable time with loved ones. All schools and offices will be closed for winter break. We will see you again on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

There was an incognito game amongst the faculty and staff today, but many students caught on and attempted to help their teachers. Mrs. Quist and Ms. Loosle planned a Grinch Game where six grinch portraits were distributed throughout the school. It was a battle throughout the day to see which staff members ended up with the grinch. Congrats to these six winners!

The sixth-grade students were able to go to Viewmont High School recently for their annual "Cookie Concert." Viewmont and the neighboring junior high schools invite the sixth graders in their boundaries to come and get excited about band. Our students learned about some of the instruments that they could play when they move on to junior high.
