Syracuse Junior High brought student leaders together recently for its first-ever Student Leadership Conference, giving students from Student Government, Cheer, LIA, MAC, Hope Squad and Yearbook an opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills and prepare to make a difference at school.
Students participated in breakout sessions focused on inclusion, action building, growth mindset and empathy. Through discussions and activities, they explored how these qualities can shape their leadership and help them support others.
The conference also gave students time to work with their organizations and advisers to reflect on what they learned and begin planning how they will put those ideas into action throughout the school year.
The conference was envisioned and organized by Mckenna Dewey, SJH student body officer adviser, as a way to bring student leaders together and help them grow as leaders.
